Ahhh let's deal with tipping. Most people either don't want to tip, don't know how much to tip, or don't know it's important. People who work in the service industry work very hard for their money, and may depend on tips to make ends meet. I'm aware that there are few who might slack off everyday once in a while , but most do an excellent job day in and day out. A tip is a way of giving a token of appreciation to those who have helped to lighten your loads, to create a delightful dinning experience, or to make the consemate gentleman look even better. Most people tip on the bill before tax, but its best tip on the total after tax.
Brief Guidelines:
Informal Dining 15-20 Percent of bill
Fine Dining 20-25 Percent of bill
Coat Check $1 per itemAirport Sky Cap 2$ a bag
Barber 15-20 Percent of bill
Shampooer- $2-5
Spa Salon Manicurist $ 2-5
Pedicurist 5 or $15 total Combined
Services 15 percent Valet
Parking $2 dollar Hotel
House keeping $2-5 dollar per night
Bellman $ 2 dollars per bag or $10 Carrying luggage to room

Oh my God, Polo Da Don posted an article. Well done the youngest of our swag squadron.
This is an excellent post and list. I hate when folks are ignorant to tipping. My byf thinks $5 is adequate at any venue. *shakes head* Luckily we're to a point where he just signs the bill and let me fill in the tip. At the min, I usually double the tax to leave the tip, which equals approx 16% in Cali.
First off shoutout to Cali. Yeah tipping is definitely an art, and one that men aren't usually good at but that's why we have this site.
Great post. People who do not tip piss me off. I have a girlfriend who never tips when we go out to eat, so I find my self leaving a little more to cover her. Matter of fact, we haven't been out to eat in a minute. lol
She finds any reason to not tip, "my water is empty- She ain't getting no tip." "I had to ask for ketchup- she ain't getting no tip."
it's ridiculous.
I tip based on my service. I've eaten out with a friend before who left a 1 cent tip based on the level of service...I think the waitress spit in our drink after that.
But seriously sometimes I don't have the money to tip. Like I dont tip my hairdresser...I feel bad but she understands...I'm a struggling student. She said she's just happy for the business. So...I guess it depends on the relationship you have with certain services. But I do typically try to tip 10-15%...something!
Tip is always off service! If you give piss poor service, you'll get a piss poor tip! A 'tip' is a added bonus to your based merited by your personal service! Its not a, 'just because I came to work hook me up with the $ you earned,'
If I have to remind you 5x my water is low, my food is visibly burnt up, and you are rushing me...fat chance you'll see a tip. I may give a tip to your manager to fire your butt!
If I'm riding on the airport shuttle and only have a carry on, that I'm carrying...you'll get a 'have a nice day, and a winning smile.'
So on and so fourth. If your in the service industry, you know you wanna take home some nice $, so act like it!
It doesn't make me cheap, I just have principles! Lol.
Great topic!!! You would be surprised just how may people will tip for some things and not for others.
I believe in tips...
People who SERVE YOU and cater to you should get something for it
and they do live off it
if you cant afford to tip when eating out or going to the bar YOU SHOULDN"T GO...

Personally I tend to tip 20% of whatever my total bill is at restaurants. It's the easiest math I can figure that's more than fair... However while I do it, it pains me every time I do so. My issue is, that we are forced to do so by societies standards. There are plenty of service industries that don't have expectations of tipping (i.e. Nursing, Auto Repair, Hospitality, Education, etc...) Should I tip the nurse for tending to my sutures, or tip my mechanic for catching the leak in my oil pan. Maybe I should tip the counter clerk for keeping a clean lobby, or tip my teacher for taking the extra time to explain thermo physics in a more dummified fashion. I think you get my point... the answer is no! They are doing what they were employed to do. However some whiz kid in the restaurant industry decided it was better financially to leave the majority of the burden of cost to pay the wages of his employees, on the patrons. (pure genius) While good service should be commended, it should also be expected. Good service means return business, means you keep your job. Bad service means no return business, which means you lose your job. No different from many other service related positions. It's bullshit, but since the social and moral ineptitude of not tipping is faux pas, I shall continue to hand over my, no tip, hard earned money.
