5 Tips to Know

One size fits all is a dumb slogan used to sell knit caps and ponchos. IT DOES NOT APPLY TO FASHIONABLE CLOTHING. Far too often do us men assume that our body shapes have nothing to do with the way clothes look on us as long as we check the size tags sewn into them. Here are 5 tips for Short Guys, Tall Guys, Big Guys, and Athletic Guys.

For Short Guys:
1. Admit your short, and buy short length suits. Baggy pant legs are not a sign of being down, just a sign of having an ill-fitting suit.
2. A pant leg with very little break help accentuate the height you do have.
3. Show some of your shirt cuff to lengthen the appearance of your arms.
4. A peak lapel elongates your physique.
5. A lower button stance (the position of the buttons on the suit) helps create long lines that appear to stretch you out and give the illusion of height.

For Tall Guys:
1. Light colors add width to a narrow frame.
2. A two button suit with high lapels works very well on a tall man.
3. Try on a "long" suit before jumping to an "extra long"; you're not that tall.
4. Keep your cuff exposure low.
5. Ask your tailor for a bit more break to your pants, so you don't look like a daddy long legs.

For Big Guys:
1. Rock a pocket square. It draws attention away from your guy and to your chest.
2. Keep your jacket buttoned unless seated.
3. Stay away from plaids and checks, and stick to simple shirts.
4. Don't wear the big roomy suits. They only make you look sloppier than you are.
5. Avoid the trendy super-skinny ties and jacket lapels.

For Athletic Guys:
1. A muscular build doesn't give you the excuse to size up unnecessarily.
2. Two button jackets emphasize the V-shape of your torso.
3. Thicker necks require a low-collar shirt.
4. Your jacket will more than likely need to be taken in at the sides. Consult your tailor.
5. Stay away from the Steve Harvey style pants. Your chest is the muscular area, not your ankles and calves. No need for the clown pants.

Use these as a simple guide when picking up your next suit or dressing for your next formal event. What tips have I missed? Drop your own advice and size critiques.

You missed: Stay the HELL away from:

1. Easter colored suits: yes, even on easter.

2. Under no circumstances should your suit jacket be reaching the backs of your knees. (I can't stand long jackets!)

Please remember that suit jackets and sport coats are not the same thing. Remind folk that 3 piece suits arent for the large stomached. Remember to unbutton your suit when you sit down. Last but not least when it comes to buttons on a suit, its sometimes always and never

I think that baggy suits on any size guy is always a horrible way to go. You don't look any more cool, street, or hood
