Well ladies and gentleman (if there are any left) Mr. McFly's class is in session. Today's lesson will be on "Fashion over function." See Fly Guy and myself talk about this all the time, like when he wears some homosexual outfit for a manly event but claims it's in the name of fashion not function. For example, not wearing a coat in the winter because your outfit is fly. No, I cannot agree in this case, it's f*cking winter. However there are some instances when this theory comes into play:
1.) Timberlands (or any boat) in the summer, this is not fly. I've had goons tell me they wear it because timbs are fly. No no no my friend, this is not a fashion over function situation. Timbs are fly but not in the summer, they are just hot (as in temperature) and everyone thinks you are a dumb azz.
2.) The casual situation, see the casual situation is anytime you go somewhere where fly clothing is not required (for example random shopping). Usually going to the mall during the day on the weekend would not mean getting spruced up but you're a SwagStar. The trick is to be casually fly, looking good without trying to do to much.
3.) The somewhat formal event is when the host tells you that an event is formal but you can wear something dress casual if you want. Function says be comfortable and dress casual but go with fashion. Dress in your sharpest formal attire and be a SwagStar General like your boy McFly.
4.) Lastly, ladies wear high heels with everything. If you feel that heels can work with your outfit, then put on those pumps. Heels make your azz and calves look better and make you taller. Now I'm not being crazy on this and saying always be done-up but if you want to look cute and still wear jeans put on some heels.
So here are a couple situations, I know there are plenty more but I need other stuff to blog about later (kidding). Share your fashion vs. function situations of just show love to the site.

I love heels but I'm already tall so I usually wear flats unless I'm going out.
I have nothing useful to add. I just wanted to say that when I'm at home, insted of house slippers I normally just slide my timbs o, which makes me think theirs a market for house slippers that look like timbs.
Correction, its Heels not Heals. =)
I agree with mdubb.
i like todays lesson. however, i would like to add something to #2 referencing #6. it's great going to the mall looking fly, but ladies, wearing high heels to do some shopping in not functional. i can understand if it's a quick trip but all day shopping in 4" heels just makes me wonder what's lirking in those heels. i'm just saying.
Thank you Anonymous, the spelling correction was made.
Ebony, don't be scared to be a little taller, fly is fly no matter how tall.
Reign, I get what your saying, but a nice pair of flats or maybe slippers will get you by it's more about the entire appearance.
I love heels but I've gotten into flats (gotta run where fashion takes me!) BUT I do not wear tennis shoes unless I'm working out. I don't have lady timbs either...
Know what I hate though??? What is this phenomena with my sisters going out with headscarves on.... I'm NEVER okay with this. Not even to the gym!
Don't wear sandals or open toe stilettos in the dead of winter. There is no excuse. Find yourself a nice pair of shoe boots, knee boots, or pumps.
I love the idea of heels with everything. I never where sneakers unless I'm working out as well. I'm a heel type of girl:) And yes, I'll even put on a pair of stilettos in the dead of winter...for clubbing purposes only though.
lmao. who are these people that you actually have to tell this to????? good grief.
