Be Responsible for Once

At MrSwagger, we love blind consumerism as much as the next man, but at some point, you have to put your foot down and take a look at reality. The world's financial markets are in disarray, leaving job security for many in question. We as a people (however you choose to identify with us -black, young, blogger, fashionable, etc) have to understand that our spending habits have got to change. Yes, that even includes you, who may think that their job is "unfuckwitable"; that status may change before you realize it. Even in the scenario that your job is super-safe, there is nothing wrong with not blowing all your hard earned cash on hookers, blow, clothes, liquor, and God knows what else.

Check out these two websites as you begin to add some responsibility to your financial situations.
Mint.com allows you to enter your credit card or debit card information, allowing it to then download, categorize, and graph your finances automatically every day. You're able to compare your spending habits between various time periods, see where you can save money, and create a solid budget.

Bankrate.com is your one-stop shop to compare credit cards, savings accounts, money market accounts, along with mortgage rates, and CDs. Use this to find yourself a high yielding savings accounts that will allow you to start saving money. You can get more aggressive later with money market accounts, CDs, and investment portfolios. Remember, this savings account isn't just another checking account to pillage and plunder. This is will rainy day money, investment money, and emergency (true emergency funds!). Alot of us have entrepenurial dreams, but you cannot hope to get very far with all of your funds invested in Prada boots, and Seven jeans.

What homegrown money saving techniques do you use? Do you save any money at all?

I have been shi-tay with my money saving habits.. but all of that's gonna change. I'm gonna start by paying for everything with CASH. It's too easy to pull out a card, then you forget your transactions and such.

Get an ING Orange Savings account, 2.75% interest rate and it doesn't have a minimum balance. Plus if someone refers you then you get an additional $25. No joke. Get at me for more info.

Invest in a sugar daddy/mommy or stay clear of malls/stores/e-shopping. If you dont see it, it will be easier not 2 buy it.

I am with ThaLegend. So far the recession has not stopped me on single bit *Looking at my new black fur jacket with the pink ans brown fox trim* but I need to stop. I blow money like crazy and it really needs to stop. My goal for next year is to save 10,000 in 8 months. I do it all of the time, but this time I plan to NOT spend it!

I just believe in living life, because you are not guaranteed tomorrow. *sighs*

Mint.com is my JAWN! My financial planner that sends me text messages when I've been spending too much money. Plus, those nifty colorful graphs rock. And of course I cower when I see the dollar amount I've spent.

Bankrate is my go-to for credit card into too. I also have an ING Orange Savins account. Looking into opening a Sharebuilder one.

Currently reading Suze Orman's book "Young, Fabulous & Broke". '09 is my year to begin amassing my wealth.

IRA at Fidelity, money market at Sharebuilder which feeds my ETFs there, and an ING Orange savings account.

I have each set up for automatic plans. I don't even do that to pay bills, because i believe in paying yourself first.

the fact that you have to actually tell people to responsible with their money is pretty sad. 99 percent of the people who look like they're ballin are living check to check.
